MyDex Futures uses a tiered leverage model to calculate maintenance margin requirements, similar to the model commonly used by centralized exchanges.
The formula is:
maintenance_margin = notional_position_value × maintenance_margin_rate - maintenance_deduction
On MyDex Futures, both maintenance_margin_rate and maintenance_deduction depend only on the margin tier, rather than on the asset itself.
The maintenance margin rate for each tier is calculated as follows:
maintenance_margin_rate (tier = n) = (initial margin rate at maximum leverage for tier n) / 2
For example, if the maximum leverage for a tier is 20x, then: maintenance_margin_rate = 2.5%
Each tier also includes a maintenance_deduction, which reflects the different maintenance margin rates applied across the previous tiers.
The formulas are:
maintenance_deduction (tier = 0) = 0
maintenance_deduction (tier = n) = maintenance_deduction (tier = n - 1) + notional_position_lower_bound (tier = n) × (maintenance_margin_rate (tier = n) - maintenance_margin_rate (tier = n - 1)), for n > 0
In practical terms, the maintenance deduction is designed so that when additional position size enters a new tier, the maintenance margin increases at the corresponding maintenance_margin_rate, while the total maintenance margin continues to increase smoothly rather than changing abruptly.
Each margin table has a unique ID, and tier information can be found in the meta field of the info response. For IDs below 50, there is only one tier, and the maximum leverage is equal to that ID.
